Trump – a blessing for Modi

Posted by Navin Harish - No Comments

Trump seems like a blessing is disguise for Modi as he has given the social network addicted indian people something to be outraged about and forget about demonitisation.
Do I hear Kejriwal saying “saazish hai ji yeh, sab mile hue hain.”

Modi ji reminded me of childhood

Posted by Navin Harish - No Comments

Dad used to get up at 5 in the morning to buy milk to avoid the rush, today I got up at 5 to go to ATMs to beat the rush. However, I drove around for 90 minutes trying various ATMs but found none that would dispense cash.

We used to stand in queue for milk for hours every morning, today people are standing outside the banks for hours to get a little cash.

Queue at a bank for exchanging old, discontinued currency

People standing outside ICICI Bank, Gaur City Noida to exchange their old, discontinued currency.

Sometimes two people used to go for milk and the mother dairy guy would spot me and say “Your daddy took 2 litre milk in the morning, you won’t get any more. Today also my daily quota is Rs2,000.

Won’t Give It Up – my LPG Subsidy

Won't give up my LPG Subsidy

You took away the option of going to a government hospital from me. You took away the option of sending my kid to a government school. Why do you want me to give up my LPG subsidy? I know you can damn well take it away anytime you like. So just stop trying to make me feel that I am in control and just end this damn thing. ‪#‎Giveitup‬ ‪#‎wontgiveitup‬

The questions are all wrong

Watercolour of Narendra Modi

When a PM is live on national television, I guess the risk most people are willing to take is to appear shallow and witless and not being a career threatening wrong.

After his Teacher’s Day session with the kids Narendra Modi observed that the questions asked by the kids were beyond their age. Not mature for their age but I guess not relevant for their age. I guess what he was trying to say was that it was painfully obvious that the questions were not kids’ questions, they were prompted to ask them.

Itchy trigger fingers

Posted by Navin Harish - No Comments

I am not able to recall the name of the movie in which a sniper who returned from a war without doing much returns home and takes his rifle and kills people randomly. I can’t remember the name because there have been a lot of characters in Hollywood movies like this.

Now the Russians have taken it to the next level – people in charge of anti-aircraft guns getting itchy fingers. They first blew up a Korean plane in 1983 and now a Malaysian plane and just like last time, their initial response if “What plane, I didn’t do it”.

Watercolour of Narendra Modi

So what were they doing, conducting a trial run to check the ammo and the aim by blowing up a plane till Modi’s flight passes through. Guys, Get a life

An entire generation of soldiers who have not been to war were anticipating to get some action due to the Ukraine problem but that also seemed to fizzle. “Man I can’t take this anymore. I have spent ten years perfecting myself in the art of shooting down planes and I still have not fired a single shot at a plane” No wonder he goes out and blows up a passenger plane.

And while all this is happening, there are people cooking up controversy stories by pointing out that Modi’s plane was on the same path, 55 minutes behind the plane that was blown up. So what were they doing, conducting a trial run to check the ammo and the aim by blowing up a plane till Modi’s flight passes through. Guys, Get a life

No Bad Deed Goes Unrewarded

Posted by Navin Harish - No Comments

“Namaste, This is Arvind Kejriwal. By the 15th of December, Delhi will have a government by Aam Aadmi Party and on 29th of December, we will have a session of Stat Government at Ram Lila Maidan….”

This is what Arvind Kejriwal is announcing on FM radios. He will not be able to make the government, all he will be able to do is divide BJP’s votes and ruin any chances they have of forming a government in Delhi.

No bad deed goes unrewarded. The Congress government, both at national and state level have set new heights in corruption and this time around, there was a realistic chance that the people are fed up with them and may give an opportunity to a different party. However, the very reason the people wanted to boot out Congress is the reason why they will stay in power. The corruption gave rise to a movement against it, which resulted in a political party which will result in dividing the opposition votes and ensuring majority for the incumbents.

Walmart and other pickpockets

Posted by Navin Harish - No Comments

A few days ago, I was visiting a relative and there I met someone who was very excited about the FDI and retailers like Walmart coming to India. “Things will get cheaper once those malls open”. This was a statement not coming from a naïve teenager, or an uneducated simpleton or from someone in the government who stands to financially gain from this situation. I tried to tell him how this could not be as great as he might think. “The things will be cheaper but do you know how that is going to affect an economy that has exceptionally large number of entrepreneurs?”

Apparently he didn’t and couldn’t give a fuck to how small businesses always suffer in cities where these retails chains open. So I tried to tell him that even if the things are cheaper, you don’t end up saving money. “The layout of these store means you end up buying things you don’t need just because they are on a sale. I end up buying biscuits that I have to throw away after months when they are past their use by date or I end up buying things that I originally didn’t intend to buy like the ‘two for one’ macaroni that again doesn’t end up being used. You need to be exceptionally disciplined to go to a store like that and buy only the things that you need. I know for a fact that I save money if I buy groceries from a mom and pop shop even if the individual items are more expensive.”

To this he said “Well, people will buy only what they can afford, they are not taking money out of someone’s pocket” I realized that I have agitated him enough and continuing this conversation will end up only embarrassing our host so it was time for me to shut up.

However, here are a couple of info graphics that I sincerely wish I could share with that person.

What the government doesn't want us to know

Shameful. Very shameful indeed

Posted by Navin Harish - No Comments

Hina Rabbani Khar said that she can’t respond to everything said in India. Actually she is mistaken, the Indian public is not trying to elicit a response from here anyway. We are seeking answers from our own government. We are seeking answers because no matter what angle we try to see this problem from, it leaves a lot to be desired and questions to be answered.

If this is true, it is very shameful that the government is using the death of two soldiers for its political gains.

The spontaneous reaction, the very first one that comes to mind is the childhood lesson that almost every boy learns. If you ever get in a fight, you sort it out there and then only. If someone hits you, you hit him back and get even. You can’t comeback home and then go the next day and beat that kid, that would be a second fight, and not the continuation to the first one because things have changed in the meantime with other people like parents and teachers getting involved in it. So what is difficult to understand is why the Indian soldiers didn’t respond there and then. Being soldiers, I would have assumed them to be naturally aggressive and they must have curbed their natural instincts to not seek revenge. Who stopped them? The protocol decided by the government on how to respond in such situations?

There is also a theory that this is not an isolated case and incidents like this keep happening all the time. This one is highlighted and kept alive in media to divert the attention of people from other issues. Issues that have been destabilizing the governments like the Delhi rape case. This is a standard operating procerure for the government, whenever the heat becomes too much to bear, find something else that will divert the attention and focus from the current problem. If this is true, it is very shameful that the government is using the death of two soldiers for its political gains.

Tell me, what do you thing, am I just being a conspiracy theorist or is there some truth in what I am saying?

Aurangzeb Road

Posted by Navin Harish - 1 Comment

We have road named after the most cruel Mughal king Aurangzeb who was responsible for killing thousands of Indians.

Aurangzeb killed Hindus, Hitler killed Jews. What are the odd of finding a road named after Hitler in France or Poland or even Germany?

In whose interest is the “Immediate Effect”

Posted by Navin Harish - No Comments

I saw the petroleum minister giving a statement on TV that “The price of petrol needs to be increased with immediate effect” Today the government has increased the price of Petrol by Rs.7.

There is a need to implement and enforce laws to curb corruption with immediate effect. There is also need to improve the law and order situation in Gurgaon – our rape capital with immediate effect. There is need for a lot of things with “immediate effect”. They keyword is in whose interest is the “immediate effect”. If it is in the interest of Government or people who make and support government, there will be swift action, otherwise there are a million excuses for inaction.
